This whole-home restoration reworked a 1951 mid-century ranch on Portland's West Slope from the studs out, inside and out. The brief was simple: keep the mid-century soul, add the space and light a modern family actually uses.
We enlarged the kitchen with custom cabinetry, a quartz entertainer's island, and a built-in bar. Black 16-foot sliding glass doors open the living spaces onto a garden courtyard. Floors were leveled and re-laid in white oak, and a spa-like primary suite was added.
The result balances warmth and function: a professional kitchen, black windows and doors throughout, and quiet, well-made details in every one of its 3,600-plus square feet. We are booking 2026 whole-home restorations now for homeowners who want the same.

The exterior was fully restored - crisp white siding, black-framed windows, and a low, dark roofline - while keeping the home's original 1951 mid-century profile and the mature firs that frame the lot.

The heart of the restoration. We opened the kitchen up, wrapped it in custom cabinetry and quartz, and set a wall of 16-foot black sliding doors that disappear into the garden courtyard.

New windows, white-oak floors, and fresh millwork give every bedroom a clean, restful backdrop. The primary opens up to a vaulted, beamed ceiling and a whitewashed stone fireplace.

Every bathroom in the home was rebuilt. Marble vanity tops, slate-tile floors, white subway tile, and a mix of matte-black and brass fittings tie the baths together without repeating a single layout.

The 16-foot sliders connect the living spaces to a private courtyard wrapped by the ranch's U-shaped plan, mature firs, and string lights. It is the heart of how this home lives.
